Dr Sally Cubbin MBChB, MRCPsych, MSc, Dip CBT is a highly qualified, experienced, sensitive and caring Consultant Psychiatrist. She has special expertise in neuropsychiatry, in particular Adult ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and acquired brain injury as well as sexual medicine. She is trained in both general adult psychiatry and old age psychiatry and is happy to assess and treat patients from 16 to end of life for all psychiatric disorders. She holds a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Oxford University and uses a psychological approach wherever possible to compliment her medical skills.
She was first registered by the General Medical Council (GMC number 4009027) in 1993 holds the degrees Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Bristol, UK (1993) as well as a Masters Degree (MSc) in Psychological Medicine (University of Wales, Cardiff, 2000). She completed her higher training in psychiatry in the Oxford Deanery and also The Maudsley Hospital, London. She is a Member by examination of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (2000) and is a Member of the European Society of Sexual Medicine. She is registered on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry and the Psychiatry of Older Adults. She is approved as having expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders by the Secretary of State under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983).
In 2009/2010 Dr Cubbin held a permanent, substantive NHS post working as Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist in Hampshire. However she now works part time as a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Maudsley Hospital Adult ADHD National Referral Service in London and part time as a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in brain injury at St Andrew’s Hospital in Northampton. She has a private practice in general psychiatry and Adult ADHD with clinics in Oxford, Windsor and Southampton.
Other experience:
Management – she has spent time working in the private healthcare sector as well as the NHS and held the post of Associate and then Assistant Medical Director of Bupa from 2001 to 2004.
Teaching – she has worked as both a clinical skills tutor and an academic tutor to Oxford University medical school and continues to contribute to training junior doctors during her time as an NHS consultant. She was nominated Teacher of the Month for her contribution to teaching medical students at Oxford University in Autumn 2008.
She has an interesting and broad background as a medical doctor and has previously held appointments in Accident and Emergency Medicine as well as Paediatrics, and has a Diploma in Child Health and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. She has travelled extensively and has worked abroad. Her interest in expedition medicine has led to voluntary work participating as expedition doctor on a Raleigh International expedition to South America.
