Dr Kidd trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and having spent 3 years as RMO to the Gurkhas, trained in psychiatry at St Thomas’s Hospital.Retired in 2006 after 20 years as Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age and General Adult Psychiatry at The Abraham Cowley Unit, Chertsey, where he was a trainer in CBT. He continues to lecture in this and his main area of interest which is Psychological Trauma in all its aspects and consequences(PTSD, grief, depression, phobias, OCD, somatisation, addictions etc) and its treatment with CBT, hypnotherapy and, in particular, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an established and effective treatment for PTSD.
